Hello again readers, as I said in the previous post “heaven” , the topic of the day is “hell”.
So for those who don’t believe in it, you can’t believe in “good” without believing in “evil”
Or admitting the” cold” and denying the “hot”. It has nothing to do with the kindness of God. When you were little your mom and dad might have whipped you for something you have done wrong, does that mean that your mom isn’t kind with you anymore? No. It’s just that you have to be punished for something that you have done. For example if you steel at work, you’re fired!
So here are the Biblical verses concerning hell:
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
2 Thessalonians 1:9
They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might
and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
PThey will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will bebound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will beloosed in heaven.”
2 Peter 2:4
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.
The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.
Everyone will exist eternally either in heaven or hell (Daniel 12:2,3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28; Revelation 20:14,15).
(2) Everyone has only one life in which to determine their destiny (Hebrews 9:27).
(3) Heaven or hell is determined by whether a person believes (puts their trust) in Christ alone to save them (John 3:16, 36, etc.).
(1) Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10).).
Matthew 13:50 “furnace of fire…weeping and gnashing of teeth”
Mark 9:48 “where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched”
Revelation 14:10 “he will be tormented with fire and brimstone”
Revelation 14:11 “the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night”
Revelation 20:14 “This is the second death, the lake of fire”
Revelation 20:15 “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire”
What the Quran says about hell:
When it is said to him, “Fear Allah., He is led by arrogance to (more) crime.Enough for him is Hell;-An evil bed indeed (To lie on)! (Surah Al-Baqara, 206)
Say to those who reject Faith: “Soon will ye be vanquished and gathered together to Hell,-an evil bed indeed (to lie on)! (Surah Al-Imran, 12)
Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. (Surah An-Nisa, 56)
If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him. (Surah An-Nisa, 93)
When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: “In what (plight) Were ye?” They reply: “Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth.” They say: “Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?” Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! – (Surah An-Nisa, 97)
Already has He sent you Word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy faith – all in Hell:- (Surah An-Nisa, 140)
If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: “Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!” (Surah Al-Anam, 27)
One day will He gather them all together, (and say): “O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men.” Their friends amongst men will say: “Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term – which thou didst appoint for us.” He will say: “The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth.” for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge. (Surah Al-Anam, 128)
He will say: “Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you – men and jinns, – into the Fire.” Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire.Saith the last about the first: “Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire.” He will say: “Doubled for all” : but this ye do not understand. (Surah Al-Araf, 38)
“Such as took their religion to be mere amusement and play, and were deceived by the life of the world.” That day shall We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and as they were wont to reject Our signs. (Surah Al-Araf, 51)
The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell;- (Surah Al-Anfal, 36)
Except those on whom thy Lord hath bestowed His Mercy: and for this did He create them: and the Word of thy Lord shall be fulfilled: “I will fill Hell with jinns and men all together.” (Surah Hud, 119)
For those who respond to their Lord, are (all) good things. But those who respond not to Him,- Even if they had all that is in the heavens and on earth, and as much more, (in vain) would they offer it for ransom. For them will the reckoning be terrible: their abode will be Hell,- what a bed of misery! (Surah Ar-Rad, 18)
In front of such a one is Hell, and he is given, for drink, boiling fetid water. (Surah İbrahim, 16)
To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. (Surah Al-Hijr, 44)
“(Namely) those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrong-doing to their own souls.” Then would they offer submission (with the pretence), “We did no evil (knowingly).” (The angels will reply), “Nay, but verily Allah knoweth all that ye did; (Surah An-Nahl, 28)
It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true Guidance; but he whom He leaves astray – for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him.On the Day of Judgment We shall gather, them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf: their abode will be Hell: every time it shows abatement, We shall increase from them the fierceness of the Fire. (Surah Al-Isra, 97)
Say, “The truth is from your Lord”: Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on! (Surah Al-Kahf, 29)
Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. (Surah Al-Bayyina, 6)
But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,- (Surah Al-Qaria, 8)
Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit. (Surah Al-Qaria, 9)
And what will explain to thee what this is? (Surah Al-Qaria, 10)
(It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely! (Surah Al-Qaria, 11)
Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!) (Surah At-Takathur, 5)
Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire! (Surah At-Takathur, 6)
Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight! (Surah At-Takathur, 7)
Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, (Surah Al-Humaza, 1)
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, (Surah Al-Humaza, 2)
Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! (Surah Al-Humaza, 3)
By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, (Surah Al-Humaza, 4)
And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? (Surah Al-Humaza, 5)
(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), (Surah Al-Humaza, 6)
The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: (Surah Al-Humaza, 7)
It shall be made into a vault over them, (Surah Al-Humaza, 8)
In columns outstretched. (Surah Al-Humaza, 9)
So you see? How can hell be a myth while the Bible and the Quran affirm its existence? Hell it’s the most horrific place someone could be, you may think that’s funny or weird or even fake, but the day you’ll see it, it will be too late. So let’s be careful and try to make of ourselves what God wants us to be
We’re all aware that when we die, we go somewhere. Either that place is good which is called heaven or bad which is hell.
Unfortunately nowadays most of the people don’t believe in hell (except maybe the Jews and the Muslims). If we look from the XIX century and backwards every believer believed in hell, but since the half of XX century onwards it changed a LOT, here is a link you may read:
Even the Church don’t believe in hell anymore. Can you believe that? So do you really believe that all those assassins in the world such as Timothy McVeigh or Radovan Karadžić will go to heaven? Or those thieves that steel things that don’t belong to them? That’s wrong to think that God’s justice is weak. How can you possibly think that hell is a myth? It’s like saying that “evil” doesn’t exist, come on!
Ok, let’s leave hell for another time and continue to heaven.
Here is what the Bible tells us:
Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. ‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ ”
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia [or 1,400 miles!] in length, and as wide and high as it is long [1,400 miles wide and tall!].
17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits [that is 200 feet!] thick.
18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst [these last two stones are unknown or only exist in heaven today].
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.” “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.” I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!”
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “ ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’”
“ ‘No longer will the people of Israel have malicious neighbors who are painful briers and sharp thorns. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign LORD. “ ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I gather the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob. They will live there in safety and will build houses and plant vineyards; they will live in safety when I inflict punishment on all their neighbors who maligned them. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God.’ ”
Does that mean that Jerusalem is heaven? Because if it is, counting its 125.156 km2 or 48.323 sq mi of surface and taking note that each person needs 1 sq meter to stand freely, that means that there will be about 126 000 people in heaven. For those people it will look more a prison than heaven.
Now what does the Quran say?
Al Hijr 15:45-48 “Truly! The Muttaqun (pious and righteous people) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise). “(It will be said to them): ‘Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.’ “And We shall remove from their breasts any sense of injury (that they may have), (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. “No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it.”
The pilgrimage 22: 23
Truly, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous good deeds, to Gardens underneath which rivers flow (in Paradise), wherein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls and their garments therein will be of silk.
Ya-Sin 36: 55-58
Verily, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things. They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones. They will have therein fruits (of all kinds) and all that they ask for. (It will be said to them): Salamun (peace be on you), a Word from the Lord, Most Merciful.
The Groups 39: 73-74
And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be opened (before their arrival for their reception) and its keepers will say: Salamun ‘Alaikum (peace be upon you)! You have done well, so enter here to abide therein.” And they will say: “All the praises and thanks be to Allah Who has fulfilled His Promise to us and has made us inherit (this) land. We can dwell in Paradise where we will; how excellent a reward for the (pious good) workers!”
The Smoke 44: 51-55
Verily! The Muttaqun (pious), will be in place of Security (Paradise). Among Gardens and Springs; Dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other, So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (female fair ones) with wide, lovely eyes. They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security;
Muhammad 47: 15
The description of Paradise which the Muttaqun (pious) have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure) therein for them is every kind of fruit; and forgiveness from their Lord. (Are these) like those who shall dwell for ever in the Fire, and be given, to drink, boiling water, so that it cuts up their bowels?
The Moon 54: 54-55
Verily, The Muttaqun (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise). In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).
The Event 56: 10-40 And those foremost [ in performing righteous deeds,] will be foremost (in Paradise). These will be those nearest to Allah. In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, Reclining thereon, face to face. They will be served by immortal boys, With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. And fruit; that they may choose. And the flesh of fowls that they desire. And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), Like unto preserved pearls. A reward for what they used to do. No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech. But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace) ! And those on the Right Hand, – Who will be those on the Right Hand? (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another,In shade long-extended, By water flowing constantly, And fruit in plenty, Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, And on couches or thrones, raised high. Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. And made them virgins. Loving, equal in age. For those on the Right Hand. A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations).
The Man 76: 12-21
And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold. And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), A spring there, called Salsabil. And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink.
The News 78: 32-38
Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise); Gardens and grapeyards; And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age; And a full cup (of wine). No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying; A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds). (From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave). The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right.
The Cow 2: 25
And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), and they will abide therein forever.
The Criterion 25: 15-16
Say: “Is that (torment) better or the Paradise of Eternity promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons)?” It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination. For them there will be therein all that they desire, and they will abide (there forever). It is a promise binding upon your Lord that must be fulfilled.
Sad 38: 49-54
This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons ) is a good final return (Paradise), -, Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be open for them.Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; And beside them will be chaste females restraining their glances only for their husbands, (and) of equal ages. This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun – the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning! (It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our Provision which will never finish;
Qaf 50: 31-35
And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious ) not far off. (It will be said): “This is what you were promised, – (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah (by obeying Him in all what He has ordered, and worship none but Allah Alone). “Who feared the Most Beneficent in the Ghaib (unseen): (i.e. in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him), and brought a heart turned in repentance, “Enter you therein in peace and security; this is a Day of eternal life!” There they will have all that they desire, and We have more.
Jonah 10: 9-10
Verily, those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, Day of Resurrection… ], and do deeds of righteousness, their Lord will guide them through their Faith; under them will flow rivers in the Gardens of delight (Paradise). Their way of request therein will be Subhanaka Allahumma (Glory to You, O Allah!) and Salam (peace) will be their greetings therein (Paradise)! and the close of their request will be: Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin [All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of ‘Alamin( all that exists)].
Heaven is a reward, so we have to work for it. It works the same way as the wage we take for the work that we do everyday. You get paid for the work you do. You won’t get paid for doing nothing.
Heaven is the place of bliss, for those who are worthy. And God knows best who deserves it.
Once upon a time there was dust spinning around a gravitational point. Over time, that turned into a compact mass, which became our sun, exploding its “unwanted” materials into space. Fortunately those scattered morsels stayed in the gravitational pull of the sun. After a while most of them gathered themselves forming planets or belts such as the Kuiper belt or the Oort cloud which is the furthest location of the solar system,(if you ever want to make a stop, grab a coffee or something before hitting the road, well it’s the last one for a while).
For a while, lost stones fell on the young planets which didn’t have any protection. Among those eight newly formed ones, there were three who were fated to become really famous – Earth, Mars and Jupiter.
Jupiter for being the biggest and having the strongest gravity after the sun.
Mars for its similarity with Earth, its hue and its innumerable craters.
Earth for being the only living one, but you know it hasn’t always been as it is. Its first days have been of molten lava, asteroid impacts, heat.
One of those memorable days has been mentioned in the Quran:
The Iron 57.25 Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice. And We brought forth iron wherein is mighty power (in matters of war), as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help Him (His religion), and His Messengers in the unseen. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty.
I haven’t found anything in the Bible mentioning its origin. But here is a link with most of the iron in the Bible:
Time is passed , the magnetic dynamo stabilized, the sky’s protection began its work, water raised from the soil, vegetation flourished everywhere.
4. 2 billion years has passed, big and small mammals live happily when a big asteroid erase them from the surface of Earth with a loud BOOM! Than Men has been sent down to struggle to survive, with worries, hunger, wars, work, sickness and to obey God’s orders so that he may be rewarded with happiness and with whatever his heart desires in the next life which is the real one. But in order to get that sorrow free life we must obey what God says in the Bible which are the 10 commandments:
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make idols.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet
And in the Quran:
Hebrew Scriptures: Exodus 20
3: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
17:22: Do not associate another deity with God.
47:19: Know therefore that there is no god but God.
4-6: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth….
6:103: No visions can encompass Him, but He encompasses all visions.
14:35: My Lord, make this a peaceful land, and protect me and my children from worshiping idols.
42:11: There is nothing that equals (like) Him.
7: Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
2:224: Do not use God’s name in your oaths as an excuse to prevent you from dealing justly.
73:8: Remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him exclusively.
76:25 Glorify the name of your Lord morning and evening.
8-11: Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant [male slave], nor thy maidservant [female slave], nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates….
12: Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
17:23-24: You shall be kind to your parents. If one or both of them live to their old age in your lifetime, you shall not say to them any word of contempt nor repel them, and you shall address them in kind words. You shall lower to them the wing of humility and pray: “O Lord! Bestow on them Your blessings just as they cherished me when I was a little child.”
13: Thou shalt not kill.
17:33: And do not take any human being’s life – that God willed to be sacred – other than in [the pursuit of] justice.”
14: Thou shalt not commit adultery.
17:32: You shall not commit adultery. Surely it is a shameful deed and an evil way.
15: Thou shalt not steal.
5:38 & 39: The thief, male or female, you shall mark their hands as a punishment for their crime, and to serve as an example from GOD. GOD is Almighty, Most Wise.
16: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
25:72: And (know that the true servants of God are) those who do not bear witness to falsehood.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant [male slave], nor his maidservant [female slave], nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
4:32: Do not covet the bounties that God has bestowed more abundantly on some of you than on others.
Do you know that when you go to the Sunday Mass or Service, you hear a specific chosen sermon, that means that there are parts for the Bible that you never heard of because your minister or your parish priest, reads either the easiest part for him, or a part that he thinks that you want to hear?
Here is a link the that you might want to look at :
Maybe you went to Sunday school, but that doesn’t mean that you know the Bible.
Does that mean that you don’t have to enjoy life? No! Live today as you’ll live forever, but also strive in obedience as it is your last day.
My dear fellow, beware of the devil’s temptation, HE IS YOUR ENEMY, as God tell us in:
Surah Al Ar’af 7
19. “And O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradise, and eat thereof as you both wish, but approach not this tree otherwise you both will be of the Zalimun (unjust and wrong-doers).”
20. Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals.”
21. And he [Shaitan (Satan)] swore by Allah to them both (saying): “Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both.”
22. So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): “Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (Satan) is an open enemy unto you?”
23. They said: “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.”
24. (Allah) said: “Get down, one of you an enemy to the other [i.e. Adam, Hawwa (Eve), and Shaitan (Satan), etc.]. On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment, – for a time.”
25. He said: “Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought out (i.e.resurrected).
In mathematics, two quantities are in the golden ratio if their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities. The figure on the right illustrates the geometric relationship. Expressed algebraically, for quantities a and b with a > b > 0,
I’m amazed at how things are created so well measured, we can find this proportion almost anywhere, especially things which aren’t man-made.
If you look closely at the trees, flowers, animals, faces (human or animal), etc… you’ll probably be amazed as well.
How is it possible that some people believe that everything is created by chance, by evolution? Can chance or evolution measure perfectly exactly 1.6180339887? How pathetic! Evolution may as well build a Boeing 747 out of a scrap depot.
The moon 54.49Everything We created is precisely measured.
The Divorce 65.3 3. And will provide for him from where he never expected. Whoever relies on God—He will suffice him. God will accomplish His purpose. God has set a measure to all things.
I’ve read both of them several times to get a full understanding on the topic (I know, I’m not really smart).
To begin with, what it is to be conscious?
The state of being aware of and responsive to one’s surroundings. Human beings and animals are among very few things which are responsive to one’s surroundings. We could say that automatic doors are responsive, car alarms as well, but we can’t call that consciousness can we? Sensors were built just to detect “anomalies”, while animals are responsive according to the degree of their intelligence, for instance you can’t pretend to find a bird saying to himself “No I won’t go near that cheese because it’s a mouse trap!” but you may see it in monkeys maybe.
Early ideas of consciousness can be traced very far back in history; it is a very human question to ponder. It is one that has troubled the minds of great thinkers for a very long time. Descartes was convinced that the human body and human consciousness were two separable items; the first a material body the second an immaterial item (if an item can indeed ever be immaterial).
Now for there first part to understand consciousness, we need to look into the non-observable domain. We’re aware that everything in the universe is made of electron, protons and neutrons but that’s not all, there are tinier things called quarks and even more tiny called bosons, unfortunately in science proof is very important, to call “it” a fact otherwise it will be just a theory.
Well, the most pertinent school of thought in philosophy of science is called Entity Realism. We cannot see quarks directly however what we can see is the effects they have on larger entities. The proponent of Entity Realism, Ian Hacking, reasons along these lines. He argues that we understand the properties of the electrons and even though we cannot see them we can change variables in the system to manipulate their behaviour in order to produce effects on larger observables which we can can see. Now this manipulation of the unobservable entities and their produced effects is though to be proof enough of their existence. As long as we can manipulate and intervene on scientific entities in a laboratory to create phenomena we expect, we are justified to believe in their existence as the causal entities at work in the observed effects.
That’s the problem why lots of scientists are atheists, if they can’t “manipulate” God or can’t see some proof of him, than he doesn’t exist. The answer lies here: We cannot see quarks directly however what we can see is the effects they have on larger entities.
Actually we can see the effects God has on small and large entities.
The Thunder 13 3-4
And it is He who spread the earth, and placed in it mountains and rivers. And He placed in it two kinds of every fruit. He causes the night to overlap the day. In that are signs for people who reflect. On earth are adjacent terrains, and gardens of vines, and crops, and date-palms, from the same root or from distinct roots, irrigated with the same water. We make some taste better than others. In that are proofs for people who reason.
The Bees 16 11-17
And He produces for you grains with it, and olives, and date-palms, and grapes, and all kinds of fruits. Surely in that is a sign for people who think. And He regulated for you the night and the day; and the sun, and the moon, and the stars are disposed by His command. Surely in that are signs for people who ponder.
And whatsoever He created for you on earth is of diverse colors. Surely in that is a sign for people who are mindful. And it is He who made the sea to serve you, that you may eat from it tender meat, and extract from it ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, as you seek His bounties, so that you may give thanks. And he cast mountains on the earth, lest it shifts with you; and rivers, and roads, so that you may be guided. And landmarks. And by the stars they guide themselves. Is He who creates like him who does not create? Will you not take a lesson?
The winds that scatter 51 20-25
And of His signs is that He created you from dust; and behold, you become humans spreading out. And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them; and He planted love and compassion between you. In this are signs for people who reflect. And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for those who know. And of His signs are your sleep by night and day, and your pursuit of His bounty. In this are signs for people who listen. And of His signs is that He shows you the lightning, causing fear and hope. And He brings down water from the sky, and with it He revives the earth after it was dead. In this are signs for people who understand. And of His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand at His disposal. And then, when He calls you out of the earth, you will emerge at once. The question is: why should the independent existence of objects rely on what we can see with our tiny eyeballs or what we can manipulate with our level of technology. If our technology so increases to be able to manipulate a quark, was the quark non-existent before? I think not. This reminds me of a similar philosophical line which equally gets on my grind ‘if a tree falls in a forest and no-one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?’ Of course it does, unless you believe the laws of nature are entirely dependent upon the perception of a particular species living on one planet.
Now to get back on the topic, is there a specific location for consciousness ? Some people believe that it is stored in the brain “The consensus is that consciousness comes from the brain” but they haven’t found real evidence of it. Well someone I know thinks that it is a part of our soul (Personally I think that’s the best theory so far). I know that some people don’t believe in spirits or souls but fortunately most of us do. Each and everyone of us has a soul with which he lives till he dies, that is what the Bible says in :
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
And the Quran:
The Groups 39: 42
God takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
The Prostration 32: 7-9
(It is He) Who made good everything that He has created, and He began the creation of man from dust. Then He made his progeny of an extract of water held in light estimation. Then He made him complete and breathed into him of His spirit, and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts; little is it that you give thanks.
The Journey by Night 17: 85
And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is one of the commands of my Lord, and you are not given aught of knowledge but a little.
I think that the best approach is to say that our soul has a connection with our brain in an unknown way. Descartes said that the human body and human consciousness were two separable items, and that is precisely the thing.
eventually the activity will cease and the person will think no more; so what actually happens to it? If we are to take the approach that these things are stored via quantum mechanical processes then we must look to the idea that the information within the brain dissipates and is involved in irreversible reactions where it is lost from and the stored information is unwound into an unusable format
The fact that the brain remains conscious for 3 minutes makes me think that, that may be the time when we’ll be able to see our own life flashing before our eyes. Unfortunately we have very little knowledge about the soul but one thing for sure, the soul lives the body when the brain dies as well. That means that both are connected.
Some people asks themselves that if consciousness is in the quantum domain, are we real at all? aren’t we just a simulation? That is a big question as well because some people believe that we’re not living our actual lives, this is just a memory. For example we’re already dead, we’re in our day of judgment and we’ve asked to be shown episodes of our lives for a reason or another – personally I don’t believe in this theory.
This author who has written lots of free downloadable scientific books, believe in it. According to him we could be living this life as if we were in a dream. Dreams are real when we’re dreaming them aren’t they? So for God, everything has already ended.
Because time does not exist in the sight of God, all things happen in a single moment, that is in the “present”. All events which we think of as past and future are present to God; in His sight everything is much more clear and vital than we can perceive. For example, at this moment Jonah (pbuh) is being cast into the sea as a result of the drawing of lots. At this moment Mary is speaking with Gabriel; Jesus (pbuh) is being born. At this moment Noah (pbuh) is driving the first nail into the ark and leaving the ark with his family at the place God chose for them.
This is just an extract of a book called Matter The Other Name for Illusion.
If some people don’t believe in something which can’t be proved, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. But God knows best.
We’re used to think that things happen as we see them. When we look at a fallen tree, the first thing that comes to our mind is that the tree in question is dead or is dying either ways we know its fate. But if we set different eyes upon it we’ll be able to see that its story is much more than a simple fallen tree.
The tree use its roots to take in water and other essential nutrients. The leaves then use the water and carbon dioxide from the air, in combination with sunlight, to turn the water and carbon dioxide into glucose, also giving off the byproduct oxygen in the process.
If we take a step closer, we might see a few inhabitants enjoying their lives on it such as ants, worms, spiders. A deeper look might bring us to realize that these tiny creepers have built their nest under the bark for example. The big picture remains the same, a tree has fallen. But the other creatures which depend on it won’t appear unless we take a deeper look.
Have we ever watched a flock of birds flying in harmony? They all change direction at once following a random pattern. They are somehow synchronized when they do their spectacular dance. Have we ever seen one of them missing a turn, stopping in mid-air saying : Uh Oh, I’ve missed again. Hey! wait for me… ?
Have we ever watched a school of fish swimming as if they were following an invisible trail? They are hundreds zigzagging at the same time, at the same speed. None of them went astray! How do we explain this?
How can we explain this special bond between them? In fact it’s quite easy, they are all connected spirituality, they know/feel what their mates will do, so they do it too. They’re not the only creatures doing extraordinary things without an apparent reason.
We, human beings may have been able to do better than them, but we’re too focused on what we see, that those who can use that power are called Saints by some, Sorcerers in the middle age, Shaman…
Unfortunately we can’t prove these facts because they’re not part of the material world in which we live. In the Holy Scriptures God tells us that the Human Being can’t live without a spirit. The body is just a box in which the real person lives. Without it we wouldn’t be able to live on earth. We can’t be conscious of that unless we ask ourselves some questions without putting the easiest answer before us. For instance when we’re reading who is performing the action?
We read the letters composing a word, a word making a sentence, a sentence forming a paragraph, etc… when we process these, our mind translates what we read into a video or a picture depending on what we’re reading. If we’re going through a hunting magazine, our mind will show us for example the new outfit we’re reading about or the way an animal behaves according to the article. But if we’re seeing that outfit or that animal, who is reading the letters turning them into words, words into sentences…? If we’re busy watching a great movie on tv we’ll hardly write a perfect letter to our boss! The watcher in us is what we call spirit, the one who gets the intuition, who wakes us in the middle of the night for no particular reason to find that our neighbor’s apartment is on fire, who suggest us the right decisions, etc…
I suggest you to read The Power of Intention by Dr Wayne or Synchro Destiny by Deepak Chopra for detailed explanations. And you may read as well here a previous post on the subject.
Crypting and decrypting is part of an encryption project. Some call it cipher and decipher but it’s the same mechanism. When you start encrypting a document for example, you start by choosing the key with which you’ll hide the real message. Nowadays we use programs such as Axcrypt, Kruptos, Folder Lock, etc… which gives us the opportunity to choose between different forms of encryption and without bothering ourselves to find a way to hide a message. But before the 20th century everything was different. There were different methods which were ingenious for their time. A little bit of History: The earliest known use of cryptography is found in non-standard hieroglyphs carved into the wall of a tomb from the Old Kingdom of Egypt circa 1900 BCE. These are not thought to be serious attempts at secret communications, however, but rather to have been attempts at mystery, intrigue, or even amusement for literate onlookers. These are examples of still other uses of cryptography, or of something that looks (impressively if misleadingly) like it. Some clay tablets from Mesopotamia somewhat later are clearly meant to protect information—one dated near 1500 BCE was found to encrypt a craftsman’s recipe for pottery glaze, presumably commercially valuable.Later still, Hebrew scholars made use of simple monoalphabetic substitution ciphers (such as the Atbash cipher) beginning perhaps around 500 to 600 BCE.
David Kahn notes in The Codebreakers that modern cryptology originated among the Arabs, the first people to systematically document cryptanalytic methods. The invention of the frequency-analysis technique for breaking monoalphabetic substitution ciphers, by Al-Kindi, an Arab mathematician, sometime around AD 800 proved to be the single most significant cryptanalytic advance until World War II. Al-Kindi wrote a book on cryptography entitled Risalah fi Istikhraj al-Mu’amma (Manuscript for the Deciphering Cryptographic Messages), in which he described the first cryptanalytic techniques, including some for polyalphabetic ciphers, cipher classification, Arabic phonetics and syntax, and, most importantly, gave the first descriptions on frequency analysis. He also covered methods of encipherments, cryptanalysis of certain encipherments, and statistical analysis of letters and letter combinations in Arabic.
Ahmad al-Qalqashandi (AD 1355–1418) wrote the Subh al-a ‘sha, a 14-volume encyclopedia which included a section on cryptology. This information was attributed to Ibn al-Durayhim who lived from AD 1312 to 1361, but whose writings on cryptography have been lost. The list of ciphers in this work included both substitution and transposition, and for the first time, a cipher with multiple substitutions for each plaintext letter. Also traced to Ibn al-Durayhim is an exposition on and worked example of cryptanalysis, including the use of tables of letter frequencies and sets of letters which cannot occur together in one word.
The earliest example of the homophonic substitution cipher is the one used by Duke of Mantua in the early 1400s. Homophonic cipher replaces each letter with multiple symbols depending on the letter frequency. The cipher is ahead of the time because it combines monoalphabetic and polyalphabetic features.
Essentially all ciphers remained vulnerable to the cryptanalytic technique of frequency analysis until the development of the polyalphabetic cipher, and many remained so thereafter. The polyalphabetic cipher was most clearly explained by Leon Battista Alberti around the year AD 1467, for which he was called the “father of Western cryptology”.
So, as long as we have the key to decipher a document, everything is ok, but when we don’t, the problem begins.
Let’s take an example:
Let’s say that we have an ancient book with several chapters – written in a common language – among these chapters some of them have curious detached letters in the beginning, some repeat themselves and some don’t. These strange letters don’t form a word and are not an abbreviation, so what are they exactly? We start reading those special chapters, but nothing in them seems to refer to these letters. So I assume that the solution is elsewhere.
Maybe they’re not letters after all, what if they were numbers? But how are we going to find the solution if we don’t know what those numbers refer to? And this goes on till we find the key to unlock the message.
At least nowadays it is much much easier, if we don’t have the password, we may find another way around…
Today’s post isn’t really about books, but I have to start by speaking about one that I’ve just finished. The latest novel by Dan Brown; Origin.
I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The book’s topic (about which I’ll speak further) isn’t the problem but having read all of his novels, I find this one a remake of Inferno or The Da Vinci Code or even The Lost Symbol. Robert Langdon; which is the main Charater of most of Brown’s stories, fleeing a danger with a women to try to resolve an enigma.
Usually there is something innovative which makes every book a new story, such as in “Inferno” Robert Langdon, lost his memory and was shot. In “The Da Vinci Code” everything was unexpected. In “The Lost Symbol” Robert Langdon was unexpectedly called to a meeting place to find just a severed hand waiting for him. But this one looks like a bit of every past books, Robert Langdon is in the same kind of trouble he was in every other book! Nothing unexpected.
What I DID like about this book is that it speaks a lot about art, history and science.
Now the main topic of this book is the Origin of men and its future. An atheist scientist called Kirsch made a phenomenal dicovery which cost him his life before he can share it with the world. Robert Langdon and a woman called Vidal must do the impossible to broadcast the discovery even though they are threatened to be killed by someone who wishes to stop them spreading the news, that the creation can exist without a God.
Kirsch as a believer in the Darwinian theory (but not entirely satisfied as Darwin didn’t explain how life arrived on earth in the first place) made his own reasearch.
The idea is that Life can create itself with the right ingredients and conditions; it’s a paradox when we’re aware that the univese is a world of Entropy or should we say Chaos. Let me give you some details:
We build a castle of sand by the sea, when a wave hits the castle it disorganize the sand castle into scattered grains: no more castle.
Things are irreversible, when you put a hot mug of coffee on the table, it gets cold. The coffee never magically reheat itself.
Entropy is just a fancy way of saying that things fall apart. An organized system, inevitably deteriorates. Sand castles never spontaneously appear in the universe, they only disappear.
So Kirsch enhanced a technique used in 1953 by two scientists Muller & Urey who tried to recreate the Primordial Soup, trying to create life within a flask of non living chemicals.
Chemists after them tried repeatedly using different combination of ingredients, different heath patterns but nothing worked.
But what is a Premordial Soup? After duplicating the chemicals that existed in the early oceans and atmosphere – water, methane, ammonia, and hydrogen – Muller and Urey heated all of this to simulate the boiling seas. Then they shocked it with electric charges to mimic lightning and they finally let the mixture cool just as the planet’s oceans had cooled. Of course that didn’t work. So in addition to this, Kirsch added electromagnetism to a 64 year old flask belonging to Muller and Urey and that’s it; he created Primitive organism.
According to him the Premordial Soup needed electromagnetism to put chaos in order, to create life. Therefore, if life simply happened as an inevitable by product of the laws of nature we have to conclude that because life spontaneously appeared here on earth, it almost certainly did the same thing elsewhere in the cosmos. Meaning man is not unique and man is not alone in the universe.
My first reaction was the same as Robert’s in the book: if the laws of nature can actually create life, then who created the laws?
We don’t need life to happen by product of the laws to believe that other lives exists in the cosmos. Who didn’t wonder what’s up there, gazing at the night’s sky?
Those billions of stars and what’s in between, hold such mysteries that we’re unable to provide all the answers needed to cease to be amazed at what we look at. The sky (universe) is an unfriendly place for any earthly living creature, and the “luck” as some atheists would say, has put us in the perfect planet that sustains life in all sense. But of course among the multitude of different stars, it is unthinkable that we’re the only living beings in such a vast creation. What’s out there is so far that we’re not (yet) able to reach out for them. After all…. after seeing all those Alien movies saying that they are monsters wanting to destroy us in any possible way….. I’m not sure that they are so far from us for no reason. In reality, I believe that we have our own issues here, for land, for beliefs, for ethnicity… can you imagine if we had Aliens as well to negotiate with? We’re not mature enough to handle something smarter, stronger and maybe taller than us. We’re still savages fighting among ourselves, what’s out there are other creations either more peaceful or more rebellious and either of these, we’re no match for it.
Some people don’t believe in extraterrestrial life, why not?
The universe is big enough for all of us, and surely what is beyond our knowledge is far more real and powerful than what we’re aware of. We don’t need to go into other galaxies to search for life, our own has 200 to 400 billion of stars. Can you put a percentage on how many of these are such as ours? Let’s say 1%, that gives us 2-4 billion of possibilities where a developed form of life exists.
Next time you look at the skies, be sure that somewhere out there, another form of life is gazing at the same stars you’re looking at. We’re not alone, we share the same universe, the same questions, the same Creator.
If I were interested in the origin of men, among all the books available I would read this one, which is very interesting and surprising.
I’ve finished reading the last book of Robin Hobb called Assassin’s Fate, which is the third book of the Fitz and the Fool triology about two weeks ago. And personally I hated a character named Dwalia for her cruelty upon a 10 year old girl (among other victims) and her hartless nature . This Dwalia made me think of all those human beings who suffered and still do by the hands of other beings.
We all know the story of Cain and Abel, mentioned in the Holy Scripures. The Bible “Genesis” 4.2-16 tells us:
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” 8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 But the LORD said to him, “Not so ; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the LORD’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
And in the Quran in the chapter “TheTable” 5: 27-32
27. And relate to them the true story of Adam’s two sons: when they offered an offering, and it was accepted from one of them, but it was not accepted from the other. He Said, “I will kill you.” He Said, “God accepts only from the righteous.”
28. “If you extend your hand to kill me, I will not extend my hand to kill you; for I fear God, Lord of the Worlds.”
29. “I would rather you bear my sin and your sin, and you become among the inmates of the Fire. Such is the reward for the evildoers.”
30. Then His soul prompted him to kill his brother, so he killed him, and became one of the losers.
31. Then God sent a raven digging the ground, to show him how to cover his brother’s corpse. He said, “Woe to me! I was unable to be like this raven, and bury my brother’s corpse.” So he became full of regrets.
32. Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel: that whoever kills a person—unless it is for murder or corruption on earth—it is as if he killed the whole of mankind; and whoever saves it, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind. Our messengers came to them with clarifications, but even after that, many of them continue to commit excesses in the land.
We know the torture that was inflicted on thousands of people in the middle age, i.e burned, chopped, hanged, drowned… it’s almost the same today, but in hidden places where no one witness their atrocities (prisons, rituals, laws)
Some people enjoy seeing a person in pain, but why? Is it a psychological disorder? Or do they feel more powerful? Here is what I’ve found on Wikipedia: Torture has been carried out or sanctioned by individuals, groups, and states throughout history from ancient times to modern day, and forms of torture can vary greatly in duration from only a few minutes to several days or longer. Reasons for torture can include punishment, revenge, political re-education, deterrence, coercion of the victim or a third party, interrogation to extract information or a confession irrespective of whether it is false, or simply the sadistic gratification of those carrying out or observing the torture. In other cases, the torturer may be indifferent to the condition of the victim. Alternatively, some forms of torture are designed to inflict psychological pain or leave as little physical injury or evidence as possible while achieving the same psychological devastation. The torturer may or may not kill or injure the victim, but sometimes torture results in a deliberate death and serves as a form of capital punishment. Depending on the aim, even a form of torture that is intentionally fatal may be prolonged to allow the victim to suffer as long as possible (such as half-hanging).
Research during the past 60 years, starting with the Milgram experiment, suggests that under the right circumstances, and with the appropriate encouragement and setting, most people can be encouraged to actively torture others.
“When torture takes place, people believe they are on the high moral ground, that the nation is under threat and they are the front line protecting the nation, and people will be grateful for what they are doing.”
Unfortunately the human being is really complex, we can find the most kind and the most evil in the same city. And the worst of all is that, the first impression someone takes isn’t always what it is. We can’t judge a person by its garments. There is so much evil in this world that I personally don’t trust easily the people I meet. Probably most of us are good, but in this planet where the big fish eats the small one, it’s best to stay focused, so that we don’t get eaten easily. Probably it’s mean of me to think that way, but it is the way I see the world. I believe that we all lack of Innocence, since our first father and mother, but the difference between us is who strives for the greater good and who doesn’t.
