The winner of Around a cup of Tea

The Winner:

Tick tock around the clock
I won’t need to pick this lock
Tick tock around the clock
The key to it is in my sock
Tick tock around the clock
I make Chinese food in my wok
Tick tock around the clock
Valets parked my car down the block
Tick tock around the clock
Before I enter I always knock
Tick tock around the clock
Is there somewhere we can talk?

I made a hopscotch with some chalk
I didnt have much time to gawk

Lol I loved this onel

I would like to mention Aquib as well .

My Answer:

Tick tock around the clock

I guess I’m stuck

Tick tock around the clock

Feel free to mock

    1. Dear Aquib, i liked your poem but Ward has written according to the “ock” ending. If you read again his poem, you’ll see that he followed the rythm.
      I’m sorry Aquib.
But you’ll get some chocolates too 🍬🍫🍪🍫🍫🍪🍬🍩

                  1. Hey, Mel sorry. I truly mind these aww things. For me Allah is sufficient. I won’t be participating again. Since poetry is very dear to me someone not judging it properly is of grave concern to me… So, this aww, you don’t mind it, I don’t like it. I don’t need your consolation, and you don’t have to follow my blog even.

                    1. Wow! Appreciate the honesty. I liked your poetry. People are different you know. I wasn’t trying to offer you consolation but more… encouraging and understanding. Don’t have to be mean about it. We’re all friends. Well… so I thought. Wish you the best.

                      Take care Aquib.

                    2. Umm… the only thing that I DID mind is that you contradict yourself young man. If this is true: “For me Allah is sufficient.” Then you having lost this contest should have led you to say “Alhamdulli Allah” for He is your greatest judge. But instead… you argued with Novus as to why she chose CLEVER over you. Well my friend… I think you have a lot to discern. Religiously speaking why are you posting at all if Allah will suffice? You need not anyone’s approval or opinion – good bad or any other opinion – it should not matter but only Allah’s good graces.

Me thinks… you do have a bit of a contradictory sort of path you’re following.

The servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say words of peace.
                      Surah Al-Furqan 25:63

Verily, Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble towards one another, so that no one wrongs another or boasts to another.

A man said: By Allah! Allah will not forgive so-and-so! Allah Almighty said: Who is he who swore by Me that I will not forgive so-and-so? I have forgiven him and nullified your good deeds.

These are my humble thoughts. I wish you well in all your future endeavors Aquib.

                    3. See Mel, it’s only contest and I have right to disagree,
it’s not a religious things that you judged me, about my path.
My brother is established Moulana Br. Yusuf khan but in urdu, I will link his talks too and studied Deen,. My parents taught my Deen right from my childhood under the guidance of The imam Alhamdulillah.
I can quote verses too here too, but it’s not required.
Remembering Allah is a basic things don’t, even a child do that, MashaAllah, allahumdulliah, Allah is sufficient…… Just for His mercy.. I am not a perfect human. I will now say.. YA Rab I seek your mercy.

                    4. See, Mel only Allah knoweth my intentions and yours. What is in my heart and yours.? One day we will return to him. I apologize to you if I am sounding rude or something like that.

                    5. So why are you judging Novus on how she judges HER contest. There is no problem my friend other than you wanting to prove something that is really not a big deal. So why are you no longer participating? Good luck with everything. You will do well if you are true to your heart.

                    6. Aquib jee, you’re a lovely poet, that’s why I followed you, maybe I have to put new rules in this game so that no one else gets disappointed. Let me tell you this: a few weeks ago Mel and Ward played at the same time, unfortunately for Mel, Ward won. She wasn’t happy ’cause she wanted to win the chocolates and the link but i thought that Ward answered better. She was very upset! But that didn’t prevent her from playing again.
I’m setting new rules, the judgment will be by points , the higher the score the best chance to win.
So please Aquib, don’t lose hope. See next Sunday if you’d like to play or not. It doesn’t mean that you’ll win, but at least there will be scores so that everyone will get justice. Is it ok for you?
                      Come on say yes.

                    7. I have no problem with Novus judgment. I presented my opinion that I don’t agree, and I won’t be participating again. That’s it.. There is no animosity from my side, I am still following her, she is great writer MashaAllah..that’s why. I pray for her well being.
I don’t know anything else.. I havent talked to you before..
So.. There is no such beef or something like that.
Everthing happens for a reason.. Good night. I will now present no further explanation about conversation between me and Novus. It was actually end of discussion that time.

    2. Your poem was good. It just wasn’t the answer.

Did you consider that by criticizing my answer, you may have insulted me? That, I don’t care about.
But did you consider that by criticizing my answer, which followed the rhyming pattern of the original post, you may have insulted Novus? That is not gentlemanly or polite. I think you should apologize. You decide what you actually do.

      JazakAllahu khairan.

        1. I can accept, if Novus does.
She says “how would you address this” and we answer. She chooses her favorite of the submissions. Mine doesnt win usually. It’s fun to me, not a hair on fire crisis of self doubt.

Reflect. You might think “it’s easy for you to say. You’ve won a few times.”

in reality, it’s easy for me to say because I have lost a few times. To me, this isnt a contest to see who gives the best answer. This is a way for me to get to know Novus better and become better friends with her.

  1. Novus… Aquib feels this way because… one – your judgment of this contest is very subjective. According to YOUR opinion. Again… you have no set criteria for your contest and it can sometimes affect others in a bitter way. LOL. Too funny though. I did not participate because I knew CLEVER’s response was too good. You pick the answer YOU like. Not very objective and can seem unfair. But again… you are the ONLY judge. It’s is YOUR contest. So who are we but YOUR pawns. LOL. You make me laugh so much sometimes. LOL.

      1. I don’t have any suggestions darling. You have your way of doing things and that is okay by me. I just wonder if people would participate more based on a set criteria. You can set it for each one.

Like Creativity, Religious content used in response, # of words, Use of language etc… then you can score each comment on each criteria based on a scale of 1 to 5 for example. like a 5 for creativity etc… then add them up for each participant and voila… you have a winner. You’re still giving your opinion but you are judging each one equally.

Try it. If you like I will send you an email with more.

          1. Okay… gonna have to charge you now for consultation. I’m thinking I’m in the wrong line of business. I will email you later tonight when I have more time sweets. Okay. Hugs!

  2. Novus… you are gaining a lot of followers! I have to actually go live life now. Best of luck with retaining Aquib. Don’t lose sleep over it and I hope I did not over step my bounds here on your delightful Round of cup of Tea. Good for fun and deep thoughts!!! LOL.

  3. This whole thing seems silly.

It’s Novus’s contest, so the way to win is to give her what she wants. There’s one person deciding, and it’s ad hoc written responses. Can anyone expect an objective judging criteria?

Novus will choose what she likes. If she doesn’t choose my answer, and she hasn’t before, then I’ll just try again next time. It’s not an existential crisis. It’s not even bothersome. I could have written very well, and followed the criteria, and someone else just did it better this time.

    That’s cool. Lol… Have fun. I do.

Thank you, Novus, for declaring me the winner this time. See you next week!
